Privacy Policy

Introduction

This privacy policy explains how Boilers Soton (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects the personal information you provide when you contact us or use this website. We are the data controller for the information you give us, and we handle it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you have any questions about this policy or about how your information is handled, contact us at info@boilerssoton.co.uk or on 023 8254 4487.

Who We Are

Boilers Soton is a boiler installation, repair and servicing business operating in Southampton and the surrounding area. This website advertises those services and allows prospective customers to request a quote or make an enquiry.

What Information We Collect

We collect only the information you choose to give us, which is the information needed to respond to your enquiry and, where you go ahead, to carry out work. This may include:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address, if you provide one
  • Your property address
  • Details of the service you need and any information you share about your property or heating system

When you submit our Free Quote form, this information is sent to us by email and is not stored in a database on this website. We also collect standard technical information that your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address and pages visited, through basic website analytics.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you give us to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
  • Arrange and carry out any work you ask us to do
  • Contact you about your enquiry or a booking
  • Keep records of work carried out, as required for safety and warranty purposes
  • Where you have agreed to it, pass your details to a local Gas Safe registered engineer so they can respond to your enquiry

We do not use your information for marketing unless you have specifically asked us to, and we do not sell your information to anyone.

Our Lawful Basis

Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases for handling your information:

  • Consent — where you have ticked the consent box on our form, for passing your details to an engineer to respond to your enquiry. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries you send us and to run our business, in a way you would reasonably expect and that does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records, for example gas safety documentation.

Sharing Your Information

We keep your information confidential and only share it where necessary. This may include a local Gas Safe registered engineer who carries out the work, where you have consented to us passing your details on, and service providers who help us operate, such as our email and hosting providers, who act on our instructions. We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law.

How Long We Keep It

We keep enquiry information for no longer than is necessary. Where an enquiry does not lead to work, we hold it only for as long as we may reasonably need to follow up. Where we carry out work for you, we keep the relevant records for as long as required for safety, warranty and legal purposes, which for gas safety records is a minimum of two years.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete your information, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it
  • Object to or ask us to restrict how we use your information
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we are relying on your consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@boilerssoton.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

Cookies and Analytics

This website may use cookies and basic analytics to understand how visitors use the site and to help it function correctly. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when a website sets one, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

Keeping Your Information Secure

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No transmission of information over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, but we work to protect your data once it reaches us.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the policy was last reviewed in August 2026.
