About Boilers Soton
Boilers Soton is a Southampton boiler installation and heating business built around one idea: that a boiler is only as good as the survey and the commissioning around it. We fit, replace, repair and service gas boilers across the city and the towns around it, and we do the parts most installers rush, because those are the parts that decide whether a system works properly in five years’ time.
Who We Are
We are a local heating firm covering Southampton and its surrounding towns, from the inner suburbs of Portswood and Shirley across the Itchen to Woolston and Bitterne, and out to Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford. All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. Registration is a legal requirement for gas work in Great Britain rather than a badge, and it is publicly checkable in under a minute at the Gas Safe Register. Boilers Soton keeps the operation deliberately local. We are not a national call-centre brand subcontracting the actual work to whoever is nearest — the person who surveys your property is the person who understands the job, and the quote you receive is the job that gets done. Working one city means we know its housing: which streets have solid walls, where the flue siting gets tight, which suburbs still run open-vented systems, and why the water here needs treating when it would not two counties over.
What Sets Us Apart
Three things, and they are all unglamorous.
We size on a calculation, not on the old boiler. The output of the boiler currently on your wall is not evidence of the right size, and in older Southampton housing it is very often a third too big. A room-by-room heat loss calculation is what the regulations expect and what produces a system that condenses efficiently rather than short-cycling itself to an early grave.
We treat the water. Southampton sits on hard chalk-fed supply, and an unprotected combi here scales up years earlier than the same appliance would in a soft-water region. A scale reducer and a magnetic filter are standard on our installations, not an upsell, because the alternative is a heat exchanger we are back to replace at year six.
We tell you when not to buy from us. If a repair is the sensible spend, we say so. If a combi is wrong for your flow rate, we say so. If your existing system suits the house as it stands, we do not invent a reason to change it. That costs us the occasional sale and earns the recommendations that a local business actually runs on.
How We Work
Every job starts with a survey and a written quote that sets the specification out line by line, so you can see exactly what is included and compare it honestly against anyone else. We fit for owner-occupiers and for landlords, and a large share of our work is the annual gas safety and servicing that the city’s dense shared-housing sector needs. Boilers Soton issues the paperwork the same day, in a format that goes straight into an HMO licence application where one is needed.
